Yesterday the year seven and eight classes went to Christchurch United Football Club, there we got changed into our running outfits. My outfit was a green tutu, green suspenders, green top and a pair of black shorts. Once we got our clothes on we sat down to get ready for our run. Our school was first to the starting line.

After we were allowed to hit the track, the first obstacle we had was the tyre run were you had to step into the whole of the tyre or you would tripped, next was the pallet wall were we had to climb the pallet wall to get to the next obstacle which was the bouncy castle obstacle course. The first bouncy castle had four balls where you had to jump on them to get to the other side, after that was the hay bale jump then it was the paint crawl. The paint crawl was where you had to crawl under ropes while paint was being splashed onto you. Next was the soap slip and slide and water filled pool. Finally we had to do a race to finish the course. Once I was done my first lap I did a second and got dressed then got back onto the bus to go to school.

On Tuesday the 2nd the intermediates from New Brighton Catholic, versed the teachers in their yearly netball game. Each quarter was about 7 minutes long, the referee for the game was my sister who has also played against the teacher.

The first quarter, I was in  Wing Attack, Wing Attack is the player on the wing who is allowed into two thirds of the court and they try to get the ball to the goal they are trying to score. The next quarter I was in Centre, centre is allowed anywhere except the goal semi circle also the centre starts with the ball. The next two quarters I wasn’t on.

In the end the teachers beat the students probably by a lot, but that doesn’t matter because everyone on the student team knows that our teacher Mr Gray cheated.

Do you known what Netball is?

The past three weeks we have been learning about different cultures. The culture I chose was Greece, me and my friend Beau had to research a lot of different information for our culture like Traditional Foods, National Animals, National Anthem and the history of the Greece flag.

After we got all the information we put it onto a slide show and zhoosh it up. A few days later we came to school in some traditional clothing of their chosen culture there research about or the culture they are from. After that we went outside and had a performance from the Year 7’s which did a Korean dance APT, and head shoulders, knees and toes in Korean. Next was a Irish dance performed by Willa and Brenna, finally the Kapa Haka team did a Haka.

For Reading we also did an art task called Red Hat, this was a task where we had to put some of our Favourite pieces of art. I put the types of art I like which was pop art, line art and comic style art.

This task was fun because I got to find art types I didn’t know of. It was also fun to see a lot of different art types next to each other.

What type of art do you like?

For Reading we have been researching about Art, art can have many forms like paintings, videos, music and sculpture. For this task we had to do a wordfind which had a lot of artists like Van Gogh, Da Vinci and Picasso.

After we had finished the worfind we had to put 4 artists works of art onto the worfind presentation. I put Munch- Shocked Face, Michelangelo- Sistine Chapel, Van Gogh- The Starry Night, and Piccaso- Dora Maar.

Have you ever seen or heard of these famous paintings?

On Tuesday we had a google meet with St Francis of Assisi. Our Google Meet was about google videos, google videos is a platform on google which helps you make videos. It can record us and our voices, it can play music and sound effects and can get images from the web.

The Google meet went well until the google meet lagged a lot which made it hard to understand, but at least they made a slideshow to help everyone.

Have you ever heard a more weirder noise?

For writing we have been doing a Caption. A Caption is a short piece of descriptive text that accompanies a visual element, like a photograph, figure, or illustration, to provide context.

The source of our picture was from our teacher Mr Gray, the photo was a picture of his lambs and chickens.

This task was fun because I got to create a caption, and I also learnt, well maybe learnt that chickens are descendants of T-Rex, ( but this information was from my friend Beau, not me.)

Do you know any other dinosaur facts?

For the past term we have been doing inquiry, for inquiry we have been learning about habitats. A habitat is a place where animals live, habitats can be different for all types of animals. The animal I have been learning about is the BEAVER. A beaver is an animal which builds its house in a freshwater lake,river or pond.

For inquiry we had to make a poster about our animal, in the poster we needed their Diet, Predators and facts about their environment which they built their shelter.

Yesterday the whole of New Brighton Catholic got their Duffy books. We also had a visitor called Johnnie Timu. Johnie came and did some cool games like, Simon says and Pictionary. After that we got our Duffy Books. My Duffy books where Slimed and I survived the Nazi Invasion 1944.

Have you ever had a book before?

For reading I have been learning about Moths and what role they play in their ecosystem. The moth I chose was the Rosy Maple Moth / Dryocampa rubicunda. This moth has four stages just like butterflies. Larvae, Caterpillar, Chrysalis and Moth. Also this moth has an important role in their ecosystem, they are consumers. Consumers are organisms that eat other organisms.

For this task I had to make a presentation on the Rosy Maple Moth, including their life cycle, how the rosy maple moth supports their ecosystem through their life cycle and what is a ecosystem and what do they need to survive.

After completing my presentation I partnered up with a kid from school called Lucas, Lucas was making a presentation about spiders and what they do for their ecosystem. We compared our presentation together and found out that a Rosy Maple Moth is a consumer just like a spider.
